HP Networking Security Solutions: Defense-In-Depth

Access Control – Access control proactively prevents breaches by dynamically controlling users and their access to wired and wireless networks based on IT administered policies.

Threat Management – Threat management provides interior zoning and perimeter protection for organizational assets and data center resources based on defined IT policies.

Unified Security and Network Management – HP’s security and management suite provides a Central Console for unified wired and wireless LAN management under a single pane of glass.

Small

HP Networking protects your information and assets with trusted industry-standards-based security solutions for wired and wireless networking. HP Networking is building in security capabilities throughout its network infrastructure, putting in more intelligence and security at the edge of the network where users and devices connect. Deployment and management across wired and wireless is simple and intuitive, suited to a limited IT staff.

The PCM+ suite is focused on providing the tools to easily deploy, monitor, troubleshoot and proactively manage medium to large business networks. Our PCM suite for small businesses provides all the basic tools to effectively manage your network.

How can HP Networking network security solutions help my organisation...

Control who can access my network?
Authenticate users based on login credentials before they are granted access to the network using industry standard mechanisms like IEEE 802.1x/MAC or Web Authentication.

Deny access to unauthorized devices that are plugged into the network through MAC address lockout and lockdown. For example, a small company that is setting up a network for its own employees could prohibit all devices but its own computers to see resources on the network.

Maintain control of your wireless network by managing guests, providing access to resources visitors need while still safeguarding areas of the network that are intended exclusively for employees.

Specify rules to allow or deny specific types of traffic on your network with ACLs (Access Control List).

Protect confidential data and defend against attacks on the network?
Protect wireless traffic between authenticated clients and the wireless access point from eavesdroppers and hackers with    industry standard encryption methods.

Restrict the resources available to guests - with VLANs you can keep the guest traffic virtually in a separate network to ensure the security of your resources. Source port filtering is another waterproof method to prevent specified devices from communicating with others devices on network.

‘Protected Ports’ is another simple way to ensure traffic integrity. You can for example provide Internet or Server access to users, but prevent them from accessing each other.

One proven method to prevent Denial of Service (DoS) Attacks is called “ rate limiting”. It helps to ensure that the important traffic reaches its destination in any case.

BPDU and Root guard help similarly to detect unwanted changes in your network topology.
Port Mirroring - Allows traffic on network to be mirrored to an intrusion detection system (IDS) or other monitoring station.

Securely manage the network infrastructure and stay in control of the network?
Access control and other built-in security features can be set up in a few steps through an easy-to-use Web management interface. More comprehensive CLI configuration is also available. Centralized management tools, such as HP Networking Manager, fortify security within a unified wired and wireless network.

SSH/SSL/SFTP Protocols – Provides encrypted management communications between the device and the network administrator.

Efficient technologies like sFlow help to monitor traffic flows and detect anomalies that may be potential security threats.
TACACS+/RADIUS authentication support provides secure authentication methods to validate network administrator access.
Physical Security – Protect your network uptime and configuration settings by disabling reset and clear buttons.
